課程概述 |
This introductory course on international business (IIB) is to stimulate students’ interests in and enhance the understanding of the nature and critical challenges of doing business within the context of a connected world. |
|
課程目標 |
As a cornerstone course of IB curriculum, this course aims to pique students’ curiosity on the extent of value creation and social impact through sustainable business operations. Specifically, this course will discuss three broad yet fundamental issues to business development in general, international business in particular. The first part, Globalization: Opportunities and Impact, is to explore various different viewpoints about globalization and their implications to the development of cross-border businesses. Next, in the second part, Market and Corporation, we will delineate the fundamental purposes and conditions of establishing a firm organization to create value and how market capitalism works for and fails to sustain economic development. The final part, Local Economic Growth, will briefly discuss the driving forces of local economic growth, especially Taiwan’s growth model and China’s digital opportunities. |

-There is NO textbook assigned to this course so students have to search for and absorb necessary content closely linked with the designated session topic and guiding questions shown in the latter part of this syllabus. While we may suggest some reading materials for sessions, students’ exploration shall not be limited by only reading these materials.
-Learning materials for sessions other than discussion sessions, e.g., movie session, design thinking workshop, and guest speaker session, will be provided before the class. |
